Medical Grant
Kitsap Animal Rescue and Education’s (KARE) Pet Medical Assistance Grant helps animals who need veterinary care for urgent and serious medical conditions. Grants to be awarded up to $1500.00 to low-income, Kitsap County residents. Decisions are based upon several factors, including medical urgency, financial need, available funding, and eligibility. Due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to help everyone.
Once an application has been submitted, you can expect to receive a response by email or phone within five (5) business days. Please be sure to check your email for confirmation that your application was received.
If your animal needs immediate care, where any delay will put the animal at risk, it is the owner’s responsibility to seek immediate care for the animal. There is no guarantee that KARE’s Pet Medical Assistance Grant will be able to provide financial assistance. If the grant application is approved for the emergency situation, funds may take up to 72 hours to be distributed.
Acceptance Guidelines:
- Applicants must reside in Kitsap County, WA. Proof will be required.
- Applicants must meet annual income guidelines of $32,950 or $47,050 for a four-person family or have recently experienced financial hardship. Proof will be required.

- Only applications for companion animals will be reviewed (dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, etc).
- Funds will not be awarded to companion animal breeders or to anyone that has purposefully bred their pet.
